Just because you start with a box does not mean it isn't homemade! No one will guess your stuffing wasn't made from scratch with Mrs. Cubbison's stuffin', your own creative flavor additions, herbs and spices. Use this recipe for a ~12lb turkey and double the recipe for a ~20lb turkey. Serves 4-6 people.
Directions
In a large pot sauté onions and celery in butter on medium heat until onion is translucent, about 10 minutes. Add all herbs and seasonings to vegetables and stir to combine. Add bread cubes from both boxes and stir gently to fold bread into vegetables. Beat eggs and add to chicken stock. Slowly pour chicken stock over bread mixture spooning from bottom so that all bread is moistened. Use unbaked stuffing to lightly stuff the turkey. Bake leftover stuffing in a separate greased baking dish covered with foil at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking until browned on top. If you decide not to stuff the turkey, bake all the stuffing as directed for 45 minutes and then brown on top. |
