The warmest time of the year even if it's cold outside! Thanksgiving is a time to spend with the people we love most and give thanks for each other and our many blessings in life. Welcome guests with a glass of sparkling white wine or apple cider and a few hors d'oeuvres in the living room so they can catch up with family & friends... and also stay out of the kitchen where you are busy creating a magical feast!
Here are a few tips for a smooth evening you can enjoy too...

Brown Bag Turkey |
Some people swear by plastic cooking bags and others claim overnight brining or consistent basting is the key to a tender and juicy turkey. The FG way is much less labor intensive (of course!) and produces a deliciously moist and flavorful turkey.
All you need is butter, olive oil, herbs, seasonings and a brown paper grocery bag. The paper bag, unlike the plastic cooking bag, holds in moisture to self baste without steaming the turkey to death in its own juices. Just make sure to leave plenty of space between the top of the bag and the oven and let the magic happen with no extra work! |
Turkey GravyHomemade turkey gravy is so much better than anything you can buy!
Allow 30 minutes after the turkey is cooked to let the turkey rest, make the gravy and carve the turkey before serving. Turkey gravy is fabulous on every Thanksgiving side dish, so make sure to keep your turkey drippings! |

Creamy Mashed PotatoesMake your mashed potatoes the day you serve them for maximum rich and creaminess!
The trick is to use Yukon gold potatoes and mash them immediately after cooking so they are smooth, fluffy and ready to be dressed up with seasonings and creamy goodness. |
